Court Mediation Scheme
From October 2006 all mediations referred from the courts are managed through the National Mediation Helpline unless parties decide that they wish to make alternative arrangements. This means that individual court schemes that existed before are no longer operating although we remain a provider of mediators for the courts in this area. By using one national telephone number it makes it easier for those wanting to use mediation wherever they are. The Helpline will give us the contact numbers of the parties and we will then appoint a mediator within a couple of days. The mediator will then make all the arrangements. At the end of the mediation parties are encouraged to send a feedback form in to us so that we can keep an eye on the service to users. The feedback form is entirely confidential. Your local court may have a small claims mediator on their staff providing mediations at no cost to the user. These are not provided through the National Mediation Helpline and you should ask the court whether there is one. We shall try to update the website as these mediators are appointed by the Department of Constitutional Affairs.
