I qualified as Solicitor in 1995 and worked as a Litigation Solicitor for over 20 years, for the main part at partner/director level doing general civil and some commercial litigation.
I ran my own legal practice for over 10 years and so I have knowledge of all manner of legal disputes including contract, neighbour and family disputes, consumer, debt, partnership/business, workplace, matrimonial, wills and probate, personal injury and clinical negligence.
I have a particular interest in disputes involving elderly care and disputes involving the elderly who have lost capacity or who have dementia.
I have mediated in extensive consumer & trader and small claims disputes, with very good results. I continue to provide regular mediation work for some large names in the motor trade.
I am based in Yorkshire but will conduct UK wide low cost telephone mediations. I will also consider pro bono mediations for suitable cases.
Style of mediation
For most disputes my style is very down to earth and straight talking. I take a pragmatic and cost conscious approach whilst trying to find the best deal for both parties. In other disputes requiring more sensitivity, I have a very empathetic style whilst trying to bring focus and clarity and ultimately a way forward.
