Damian O’Connell, Specialist in Crisis Negotiation and Critical Incident Management

Practitioner, trainer, coach; drawing on 25 years experience as a police officer and senior leader, Damian provides a wealth of background knowledge and skills from a host of national and international ‘threat to life’ incidents. He is passionate and driven in exploring the profound possibilities of what people are capable of when they possess advanced communication skills. A Director of the UK’s Hostage and Crisis Negotiation programme, his experience includes deployments in extreme, life at risk, critical incidents within the UK and across the globe. He has attended multiple Cabinet Office Briefing Room (COBR) level meetings, providing advice and guidance to the highest levels of government.  His experience is complimented by his role as a Police Tactical Firearms Commander along with leadership and management roles of a portfolio including Counter Terrorism Specialist Firearms, Armed Response, Public Order Assets and Firearms Search Dogs.

Refunds will not be issued (although you can allocate your place to another ANM member) except in exceptional circumstances. Due to the limited number of places available, normally places are reserved for ANM members and associates--if you are not able to book or wish to be considered to replace any late cancellations  contact Julia or Olly  Thanks to the generosity of the Rackham Foundation and 2023 presenters, Michael Lang and Ava Abramowitz, two "scholarship places for fledgling mediators" were reserved at a reduced rate for those who could not otherwise attend.  To be considered for one of these, please email Julia and Olly (as soon as possible) describing why you think that this course would help you develop your professional practice and why this would be particularly helpful. Please note, scholarship attendees will still need to pay for accomodation The payment of the course fee is a deposit which will reserve your place, you will be sent a link pay the additional costs for accommodation/delegate costs directly to High Trenhouse. This will confirm your place on the course and should be paid promptly to ensure your place at the event. This arrangement is because the costs vary--some people want to stay Thursday and Friday night, some want to stay just Friday night, and some are not staying overnight. High Trenhouse is VAT registered, ANM is not.  Day delegatee may be available on request, but please check your travel times to ensure this is feasible.  Due to expected high demand, we may be able to add additional places, but need to know numbers and accommodation required as soon as possible.
Associates
After 1 April 2024, associate member tickets at £350 will be released if  places available.  Non-member tickets may be available at a later date at a higher cost.
Please note that the ANM course fee does NOT include all costs of the summer school.

£386.40 per person including VAT for Friday and Saturday with accommodation
£246.60 per person including VAT for day delegates without accommodation
Additional £144.00 per person including VAT for dinner, bed and breakfast on Thursday night if required.
